| Take these
items to fittings and shows:
1. Head scarf or make-up shield
(to protect garments from make-up).
2. Underarm shields must be worn
on all garments at fittings, even sleeveless garments. (Use kleenex
if you have nothing else.)
3. Wear antiperspirant.
4. Tissues (for swimsuit crotch).
5. Small sewing kit with scissors.
6. Masking tape for hems, etc.
7. Pins (safety and straight).
..
Day of fitting:
.
1. Go alone!
2. Be on time; be friendly yet
reserved.
3. Wear girdle, hose, business
attire, gloves, heels, shields and bring the make-up shield.
4. Act professional. Do not make
suggestions as to what you would like to wear, and don't comment on
items to be worn. If you are asked if you like an outfit and you don't,
be tactful, i.e, "I would not personally purchase it, but if you want me
to wear .it, I'll be glad to").
5. Get the feel of the garment
before removing it. Do a couple of turns, make notes for accessorizing.
6. Remove shoes when putting
on garments.
7. Hang all garments back on
hangers immediately. Button all buttons. Zip zippers. Fasten
belts. NEVER lay a garment on the chair in your dressing room. This
marks you as an amateur model. Treat each garment as if it costs $500.00.
8. Thank your assistant for his/her
attention and help.
9. Make notes on what items are
chosen for the show and write down needed accessories.
.
Day of show:
.
1. Be friendly but reserved.
2. Use antiperspirant.
3. Groom to perfection (manicure,
well shaven, shoes shined, etc.)
4. Pack bag (strapless, dark
and light half-slips, proper shoes, gloves, jewelry, etc.) Include all
items on first portion of rules.
5. Take extra pair of hose, notebook
and pencils.
6. Dress as you did for the day
of the fitting.
7. No perfume or cologne as it
adheres to clothes.
8. Perfect make-up.
9. Upon arrival at your destination,
go to your dressing room and fine some place to put your bag. Go out quietly
and look at runway to check arrangement. Then check the line-up. If your
clothes are on a rack, line them up in the order you are to wear them.
Unbutton, unzip, undo belts, etc. Do not remove tags! Be very quiet. You
may be nervous, but don't say so!
10. Remove wrist watch.
11. Get into the first garment
10 minutes before show time. No one will tell you.
