song-and-dance man, must be a true triple-threat (singer, dancer, actor);
Rose Alvarez: Early 30s, female, "Latin spitfire," clever,
pragmatic, with a sexy, strong presence, Albert's long-suffering secretary
and loving girlfriend, must be a true triple-threat (singer, dancer, actor),
very strong dancer with a powerful Broadway belt; Conrad Birdie:
20s, male, hot young rock star, sex symbol who makes women of all ages
swoon and makes their men jealous, anti-establishment teen idol who has
just been drafted into the Army, must dance very well, guitar playing a
plus, great rock and roll singer with tons of sex appeal and star quality;
Kim MacAfee: Late Teens, female, beautiful, small-town girl,
sweet, feisty, idealistic, immature yet poised, despite trying to act older
than she is, it's clear she's still an impressionable, self-possessed teen,
must dance very well, soprano with mix; Mr. Harry MacAfee:
40s-50s, male, Kim's father, constantly exasperated and agitated, always
at his wit's end and prone to delivering hysterical rants, great comedic
actor with a good character singing voice; Mrs. Doris MacAfee:
40s-50s, female, Kim's mother, delicate, sweet, an all-American Mrs. Cleaver-type,
warm, caring, dotes on her family and strives to be a good mother in this
ever-changing climate, good singer/actress; Randolph MacAfee:
8-10, boy, Kim's Brother, cute, precocious busybody, smart, funny, good
singer/actor; Mrs. Mae Peterson: 50s-60s, female, Albert's
self-proclaimed martyr of a "mamma," strong-willed woman with an agenda,
a steamroller, comedic actress with a strong musical theatre belt; Hugo
Peabody: Late teens, Kim's awkward but good-natured steady boyfriend,
very likable and endearing, average all-American guy who perfectly matches
Kim's sweet sensibility, has a good sense of humor and a quirky charm,
good actor/singer; Ensemble Singers and Dancers: All shapes,
sizes, and ethnicities, seeking strong and energetic singers, dancers,
and actors, all must sing well with strong musical theatre experience,
the roles of Teens, Harvey Johnson, Ursula Merkle, Mrs. Merkle, Gloria
Rasputin, Sad Girls, Reporters, Ed Sullivan, Mayor, Adults, Quartet, Maude,
and Shriners will be cast from ensemble. Note: All roles open to both Equity
& Non-Equity. Dancers should arrive warmed up and ready to dance. Males
should wear dress shoes, females, character shoes. Wear appropriate attire.
All should prepare 16 bars of a song from the show or standard classical
musical theatre, Strouse and Adams fare. Dance combinations will be taught
for principal roles that require dance ability. Sides will be given to
those being considered for various roles. EPA rules are in effect. A monitor
