Sonia, Kyle and Weeks are cynical suburban outsiders fed up with the peer groups and perceived injustices inflicted upon their early adult lives. Forced into mandatory rehab by the state, the three attempt to complete step nine by making direct amends to those they have wronged with little success. The following morning, they begin to sense a strange, eerie repetitiveness; their memory of the previous day’s events playing out exactly: people are carrying on the same conversations; on the radio, the morning news repeats the previous day’s broadcast. Reconvening in the parking lot to check each other’s experiences, they agree that something has occurred causing the day to repeat, a frightening thought that is confirmed by the second day, the second repeat. Upon acceptance of their predicament, the three begin to behave with more confidence and bravado because surely their misdeeds will be erased if the day continues to repeat itself. Accordingly, they begin pulling pranks and petty revenge on authority figures and people they know. Things soon escalate from small crimes into larger ones, culminating in the torture and kidnapping of a rival. But Sonia and Kyle are fundamentally good kids and soon they cannot bear the feelings of guilt and pledge to use these repeat days to exact positive interventions on the people and places around them. Meanwhile, their friend Weeks is escalating each day into more violent and depraved acts, intoxicated by impunity (and methamphetamine), but Kyle and Sonia are determined to stop him. During the showdown between the estranged friends, unfamiliar rainfall alerts them to a chilling new reality: The cycle of repeating days have been broken and for Weeks who has already killed a man, it is too late. In desperation he takes students hostage in a Columbine-esque last stand, among them is Kyle’s beloved sister. The source of much of Kyle’s guilt, Kyle has selfishly neglected to guide and protect her from the worldly dangers, shirking an older brother’s primary duties. Her life marching toward tragedy even before the current crises, Kyle is given a chance for redemption, for penance. But the offering he will have to sacrifice is the very life of his friend. First we have Jeff, a shrink in need of a shrink - repeatedly rescuing his melodramatic, hypochondriac mother, who has a habit of dying and traveling towards the white light. Jeff's dating life revolves around finding the perfect woman, but the truth is, he's searching for one just like dear old mom. Next we have T.J whose wife has thrown him out after she caught him womanizing. Although T.J. is working hard to mend his marriage, there is one large hindrance - namely, a big bossy sister in law, who plays mouthpiece for T.J.'s wife. Finally, we have Rick, Jeff's charismatic bastard brother, who is a father to a troubled fourteen year old with a quick line and keen wit. Rick's problem in the dating world is that he's the ultimate psycho-bitch from hell magnet. In the film's opener, Jeff confides to T.J. and Rick that he's secretly in love with his client who, albeit a little looney tune, "she's working on it." When Rick hears about this neurotic patient of Jeff's, he immediately steals her phone number and the chase is on. Over the course of the film, our men discover just who Charlotte really is.
